Singer-songwriter Grace Corbett was raised in Los Angeles, California. She grew up making music rooted in stories that other people can see themselves in. After spending most of her childhood writing little lines and poems to help understand the ever-changing world around her, she began to explore the possibility of sharing those words and stories with others, as maybe they would be relatable. When asked about the message they want to convey with their music, Corbett said, “My main goal with my music is to convey the message that no one is alone. I’ve spent so much of my life feeling unseen, unvalued, and unimportant which has led me to be hyper-aware of how isolating & lonely those feelings are. I write about my experiences as a human & know that if at least one person hears one of my song stories & feels less alone in their parallel situation, I’ll have achieved my goal as an art maker.” Her first single, “magnetic,” was released in 2021 with two more releases, “Icarus” and “sorry,” following shortly after. Now, just over twenty years old, Corbett has released their debut, eight track album entitled “ilyf” that she wrote, recorded, produced, and mixed/mastered almost entirely independently.
